Replying to Google Reviews for Hotels and Guest Houses in India
Travellers read hotel reviews carefully before they book. Answer the specific issue (hot water, noise, check-in), keep guest details out of the reply, and show you fixed it.
A traveller who has never seen your property decides on the strength of its photos and its reviews. They read the bad ones first, and then they read how you answered.
This page is for hotels, guest houses, homestays, resorts and lodges. It is about Google reviews, which most travellers check before booking.
What guests write about
- Room cleanliness. Sheets, bathrooms and smell.
- The basics. Hot water, AC, Wi-Fi and power backup.
- Check-in and check-out. Delays, rooms not ready and deposit refunds.
- Noise and location. Street noise, other guests and how far it was from what they wanted to see.
- Food and breakfast. Variety, quality and timing.
- Staff. Helpfulness, especially with local travel advice.

A 5-star review
"We stayed two nights with the family. The room was clean and the staff arranged a taxi for our sightseeing without any fuss."
"Thank you, [Name]! We are happy the room was comfortable for the family and that our team could arrange the taxi. We would love to host you again."
A 2-star review about hot water and AC
"No hot water on the first night and the AC was very loud. Had to ask twice to get it checked."
"We are sorry about the hot water and the noisy AC, [Name]. These are basics we should get right from the first night, and you should not have had to ask twice. Please write to us at [email address] so our manager can follow up with you."
A Hinglish 4-star review
"Room saaf tha aur location bhi accha tha. Breakfast mein aur options ho sakte the."
"Shukriya [Name] ji! Room aur location pasand aaye, yeh jaankar khushi hui. Breakfast ke options ke baare mein aapka sujhav hum kitchen team ko dete hain. Phir aaiye."
Mistakes hotel owners make
- Sharing guest details. Do not mention room numbers, dates of stay, names of companions or what the guest booked. Anyone can read your reply.
- Arguing about booking-site photos. If a guest says the room looked different online, thank them and say how you will check it. Do not debate.
- One reply for every review. A hotel with fifty near-identical "Dear Guest, thank you for staying with us" replies looks like it does not read them.
- Replying weeks later. Travellers read reviews while they are booking. A recent, specific reply helps them decide.
Promises in your reply
Only say you will do something if you really will. "We have asked our maintenance team to check the room" is a promise that someone has to keep. If a guest later returns, they will compare your reply with what they find.
Getting more reviews from guests
Ask at check-out, when the stay is over and the guest is settling the bill. A QR code on the reception desk or on the invoice is easy. Put one in the room folder too. Ask every guest in the same way and never offer a discount on the next stay for a review. See how to get more Google reviews without violating the policy.

Should I reply to reviews on Booking.com and TripAdvisor too?
This page is about Google reviews. Replykar replies to Google Business Profile reviews. Answer other platforms separately in the same tone.
Can I mention the guest by name?
You can use the name the reviewer shows, like "Thank you, Rohit". Do not add dates, room numbers or anything about the booking.
What if a guest complains about something outside my control, like a power cut?
Acknowledge it, say what you do for it (for example power backup) and apologise for the experience. Do not blame the electricity board.
Is it a problem if I reply to old reviews?
No. Replying to a backlog helps. Older replies tell new readers you take reviews seriously. Replykar can draft replies for older reviews too.
