Replying to Google Reviews for Salons and Spas in India
Salon reviews are about people: the stylist, the result and the wait. Thank the reviewer and the stylist by name when they mention one, handle a bad result privately, and never name staff in a complaint reply.
Nobody picks a salon from an advert. They ask a friend or they read reviews, and they look at the photos. A review that names a stylist and a result is worth far more than a star rating.
This page is for salons, beauty parlours, barber shops, spas and bridal studios.
What customers write about
- The stylist or therapist. Reviewers often name the person who did their hair, nails or massage.
- The result. Whether the cut, colour or treatment matched what they asked for.
- Punctuality. Waiting after the appointment time is a very common complaint.
- Price and add-ons. Feeling pushed to buy extra products or services.
- Hygiene. Clean tools, fresh towels and a tidy station.
- Behaviour of staff and the front desk. Especially how bookings and changes are handled.
Example replies you can adapt
These are examples written for this page, not real customer reviews. Replace the [Name] and [phone number] with your own details.
A 5-star review
"Priya did my balayage and it came out exactly like the picture I showed her. Very patient and the salon is spotless."
"Thank you, [Name]! Priya will be so happy to hear the balayage came out the way you wanted. Book your touch-up whenever you are ready and we will keep time for you."
A 2-star review about waiting and a short haircut
"Waited 45 minutes after my appointment time, and the haircut came out shorter than I asked for."
"We are sorry for the long wait and for the length of the cut, [Name]. Both should have been handled better. Please call us at [phone number] so our senior stylist can look at it with you."
A Hinglish 4-star review
"Facial bahut accha tha aur staff polite tha. Bas thoda wait karna pada."
"Shukriya [Name] ji! Facial aur staff ka behaviour pasand aaya, yeh sunkar khushi hui. Wait ke liye hum maafi chahte hain, hum appointment time par dhyan denge."
Mistakes salon owners make
- Naming the stylist in a complaint reply. "Our stylist Rahul was not careful" turns a customer problem into a staff problem in public. Take responsibility as the salon.
- Arguing about what the customer asked for. "You never told us you wanted it longer" may be true, but it makes you look defensive.
- Replying only to the happy reviews. Skipped complaints about waiting and pricing tell people you do not care.
- Offering a discount code inside every reply. It reads like an advert and cheapens the reply.
Sensitive treatments and customer details
For skin, hair-loss or body treatments, do not repeat details of what was done in a public reply. Thank the reviewer for the feedback and invite them to speak to you directly if there is a problem. The reviewer may share what they like, but you should not add to it.
Getting more reviews at the salon
Ask when the customer is looking in the mirror and happy with the result. A small card at the billing desk, a QR code on the mirror at the chair or one printed on the bill all work. Ask every customer the same way, and do not offer a free service or discount for a review. See how to get more Google reviews without breaking the rules.

Should I thank the stylist by name in the reply?
Yes, when the reviewer named them. It makes the reply feel real. Do not name staff in a reply to a complaint.
What if the review says the price was too high?
Do not argue. Thank them for the feedback and explain briefly what the price includes, for example the products or the senior stylist. Keep it to a sentence or two.
How do I handle bridal or festival season?
Reviews arrive in bursts after big weekends. Reply in batches, and use drafts so each reply still mentions what the customer wrote.
Can I reply to a review from someone who was never a customer?
Reply calmly that you cannot find a booking and invite them to contact you. If it breaks Google's rules, report it. Our guide on removing fake Google reviews explains how.
